Hockey Pokey

In Room15 we did hokey pokey the ingredients were
  • Sugar
  • Golden syrup
  • baking soda
First we had to melt the sugar and syrup together to make a liquid then when it had boiled we had to quickly take it off the heat and add baking to make the chemical reaction.
Our hokey pokey was a bit  burnt and it did not taste so nice.

speeches

At Vardon school we have been doing speeches.
The hardest bit about speeches for me is to not go too fast or too slow.
The bit I enjoyed about speeches was presenting it to the class.
I am proud of myself because I got 2nd place in the semifinals and got to the finals .

100 word challenge

The ghost house
The rusty gate creaked as I opened it I walked up to the door scared as can be. I had to do it to overcome my fear’s my heart was betting. I knocked on the and heard a stomping coming up to the door. I gulped and hoped it wouldn’t be as bad as everyone said. The door started to open and when I looked inside and nothing was there I was surprised it was nothing but a hollow house and you could hear air going through the house and further in and then surprise it was all a joke.

100 word challenge

If the world didn’t recycle
If the world didn’t recycle the world would be a dump and there would be rats and cockroaches the size of Mr. Peaches feet/ the school janitor. Instead of swimming in water you’ll be swimming in rubbish YUCK! Other bad thing’s is you’ll be walking in rubbish all the time and there will be no clean air to breath. You’ll be destroying the earth because you’ll be polluting the earth at the same time. Everything would be rubbish, rubbish, rubbish and rubbish that would be horrible. Rubbish, rats, cockroaches what next and that is a world with no recycling bins.

W.O.W reflection

For W.O.W me and Fergus were spokesman and we were the spokes people for the garment called Ringzician. For speaking we had to talk about the modifications, material and how we put it together. me and Fergus weren't very scared to speak in front of a crowd because we came first and third in the speech competition. The W.O.W was super fun and I would love to do it again.

ANZAC day question's

  1. What does ANZAC mean? Australia, New Zealand, Army, Corps.
  2. What is ANZAC day about? To remember how soldiers fought in the war.
  3.  How did the war start?
The original Anzac's were the soldiers who landed at Gallipoli on Turkish Aegean coast, on 25 April 1915. During WWI, England wanted to eliminate Turkey from the war, draw Bulgaria and Greece into the war on their side and also find a rear guard action that would give them access to a supply route to Russia. This would provide them with a successful venture to raise morale in England. Many Australians either still wished to support old "mother England" (despite Federation 15 years earlier) or eagerly signed up to prove Australia's worth on the world stage. After landing at Gallipoli, the ANZAC troops were slaughtered, but held their ground despite the constant gunfire and battles, week upon week, thereby earning their country men's respect and undying admiration.

It was a pointless battle, but the courage of the ANZAC soldiers was legendary, and it was recognised that those who had been killed deserved to be recognised for their sacrifice. From 1916 onwards, in both Australia and New Zealand, ANZAC services were held on or about April 25, mainly organised by returned servicemen and school children in cooperation with local authorities

Shooting

Shooting taste like gunpowder.Shooting sounds like a click to load the gun then sounds of metal bullets that your putting in the gun, then a bang and hopefully a ding! if not bad luck.Shooting looks like the Aimer on the gun and the target in front of you and the bullets your putting in the gun, and then there a trigger waiting to be pulled.Shooting smells like sweaty hands ready to pull the trigger and gun powder from the gun.Shooting feels like a heavy gun and hard and really powerful.

About camp

At camp on the first day we went for a big hike down the road and through a humongous bush it SO tiring and that I was so relieved that we got to go in the waterhole so we went back got all our stuff and started walking to the waterhole and I thought it was going to be just right but ... It was freezing and it was crazy to put my head under. Room 14 was staying at the camp site for the night and my class Room 15 was sleeping in our own dorms. in the morning we got up got dressed and went to the breakfast table for breakfast we had toast, porridge or cereal.and then hoped in the bus and went to abseiling, rock climbing and caving.First we went rock climbing and abseiling for rock climbing i did walls hard and medium then I did abseiling it was quite scary because it was a very long down but I still did it.Then we went to caving  I went in the hard level and it is acutely really hard because  there where really tight spaces and steep bits. When we came out the caves we were freezing because we had to crawl under water while we were in there. We were all really tired and we headed off to base camp. After a much needed shower we got our stuff together for overnight camp.We jumped in cars and drove off to the bush, when we got there we had to walk through it to get to the campsite. We put our stuff in the tents then waited for dinner.Yum we had nachos. then later on we went for a scavenger hunt. After that we had puddings which was marshmallow smores. Then we went to bed. The next morning after a good nights sleep we got up early got dressed and headed back to base camp for breakfast. Then we got organised for all the fun activities that we were going to be doing that day. First my group did tree climbing then swimming then kayaking then P.E then shooting and archery then lucky last BMX. My favourite activities were archery and shooting and my second favourite was kayaking with my dad. My mum came out to see me for the day so that was cool too. Then we got ready for dinner it was Karakiriki burgers Yum Yum!!!! Then for pudding was ice cream with flavoured sauce on top and apple crumble. We got ready for bed then watched a movie called Puss in Boots. We settled down to our last night of camp we were all so tired we were all asleep in a tick. Next day we packed up and tidied up and set off to Raglan for another adventure. When we got there we had a treasure hunt and I found a prize and it was a drink bottle. We played a game with pipes and a boat and that was cool after a tiebreaker we managed to beat room 14. Some of the  parents including my dad decided to jump off the Raglan bridge. It was funny watching my dad trying to do a twirl as he went down. We had lunch then I played in the playground then went for another swim. Then we headed home. I got a lift back with my Dad so got home before everyone else. It was good to be home but sad that camp was over. Karakiriki was an amazing camp and I will remember it for a very long time.
